The origin of christmas

this is not mine, but its mostly right.

Christmas is a holiday shared and celebrated by many religions.

It is a day that has an effect on the entire world.

To many people, it is a favorite time of the year involving gift giving, parties and feasting. Christmas is a holiday that unifies almost all of professing Christendom.

The spirit of Christmas causes people to decorate their homes and churches, cut down trees and bring them into their homes, decking them with silver and gold.

In the light of that tree, families make merry and give gifts one to another.
When the sun goes down on December 24th, and darkness covers the land, families and churches prepare for participation in customs such as burning the yule log, singing around the decorated tree, kissing under the mistletoe and holly, and attending a late night service or midnight mass.

What is the meaning of Christmas? Where did the customs and traditions originate?
You, as a Christian, would want to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth, discerning good from evil.

The truth is that all of the customs of Christmas pre-date the birth of Jesus Christ, and a study of this would reveal that Christmas in our day is a collection of traditions and practices taken from many cultures and nations.

The date of December 25th comes from Rome and was a celebration of the Italic god, Saturn, and the rebirth of the sun god.

This was done long before the birth of Jesus.

It was noted by the pre-Christian Romans and other pagans, that daylight began to increase after December 22nd, when they assumed that the sun god died.

These ancients believed that the sun god rose from the dead three days later as the new-born and venerable sun.

Thus, they figured that to be the reason for increasing daylight.

This was a cause for much wild excitement and celebration. Gift giving and merriment filled the temples of ancient Rome, as sacred priests of Saturn, called dendrophori, carried wreaths of evergreen boughs in procession.

In Germany, the evergreen tree was used in worship and celebration of the yule god, also in observance of the resurrected sun god.

The evergreen tree was a symbol of the essence of life and was regarded as a phallic symbol in fertility worship.

Witches and other pagans regarded the red holly as a symbol of the menstrual blood of the queen of heaven, also known as Diana.

The holly wood was used by witches to make wands.

The white berries of mistletoe were believed by pagans to represent droplets of the semen of the sun god.

Both holly and mistletoe were hung in doorways of temples and homes to invoke powers of fertility in those who stood beneath and kissed, causing the spirits of the god and goddess to enter them.

These customs transcended the borders of Rome and Germany to the far reaches of the known world.

The question now arises: How did all of these customs find their way into contemporary Christianity, ranging from Catholicism to Protestantism to fundamentalist churches?

The word "Christmas"itself reveals who married paganism to Christianity.

The word "Christmas" is a combination of the words "Christ" and "Mass.

The word "Mass" means death and was coined originally by the Roman Catholic Church, and belongs exclusively to the church of Rome.

The ritual of the Mass involves the death of Christ, and the distribution of the "Host", a word taken from the Latin word "hostiall" meaning victim!

In short, Christmas is strictly a Roman Catholic word.

A simple study of the tactics of the Romish Church reveals that in every case, the church absorbed the customs, traditions and general paganism of every tribe, culture and nation in their efforts to increase the number of people under their control.

In short, the Romish church told all of these pagan cultures, "Bring your gods, goddesses, rituals and rites, and we will assign Christian sounding titles and names to them.

When Martin Luther started the reformation on October 31st, 1517, and other reformers followed his lead, all of them took with them the paganism that was so firmly imbedded in Rome.
These reformers left Christmas intact.

In England, as the authorized Bible became available to the common people by the decree of King James the II in 1611, people began to discover the pagan roots of Christmas, which are clearly revealed in Scripture.

The Puritans in England, and later in Massachusetts Colony, outlawed this holiday as witchcraft.
Near the end of the nineteenth century, when other Bible versions began to appear, there was a revival of the celebration of Christmas.

We are now seeing ever-increasing celebrating of Christmas or Yule, its true name, as we draw closer to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In both witchcraft circles and contemporary Christian churches, the same things are going on.
As the Bible clearly states in Jeremiah 10:2-4, "Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the heathen; and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven. For the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain. For one cutteth a tree out of the forest. The work of the hands of the workman with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold. They fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not."

So, what is wrong with Christmas?

1. To say that Jesus was born on December 25th is a lie! The true date is sometime in September according to the Scriptures.

2. Trees, wreaths, holly, mistletoe and the like are strictly forbidden as pagan and heathen! To say that these are Christian or that they can be made Christian is a lie!

3. The Lord never spoke of commemorating his birth but rather commanded us to remember the sacrifice of His suffering and death, which purchased our salvation.

Think about it! Can we worship and honor God by involving ourselves with customs and traditions, which God Himself forbade as idolatry? Can we convince God to somehow "Christianize" these customs and the whole pretense and lie of Christmas, so we can enjoy ourselves? Can we obey through disobedience?

So what is right about Christmas?
1. Nothing!

How to Backslide:

During surfing the web for "how to backslide" i found this wonderful peice of work, i would like everyone to read it and gauge how many out of the twenty your following, we NEED to fix this. i would like to add to #9 is do not fast either, FASTING IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!.

I leave you with this article in its entirety:

I think I have been in ministry just long enough to have made a few
observations of people slowly lose out spiritually. I'd like to chronicle a
proposed process for abandoning the Lord & His Church. First let me note that while I do believe an individual can forfeit the saving grace they received, I do think it is a rare thing. Most often people we believe have backslidden have really never been born-again to start with. (I do not believe "once saved always saved.")

But, let me make a few observations of how this process takes place:

1) Nurture spiritual pride. Convince yourself that you are more spiritual than the Christians around you. (You are holier, more important, more intellectual, more talented, more valuable, etc.)

2) Come up with a good reason to stop doing any ministry through your local church. Good reasons include, but are not limited to: "I just don't have enough time." "I have too many irons in the fire." "I can't take the stress any more." "I need to spend more time with my family." (Hey, excuses could be a good blog post down the road.)

3) Come up with a good reason to stop participating in some of the peripheral ministries of the church such as prayer meetings, Bible studies, and small group meetings. (Make sure that you don't use the same excuse over, it is more easily spotted as a spiritual need on your part if you do.) A good excuse at this point is to be "hurt" by something innocent that was said by someone at a prayer meeting or Bible study. Be upset by what that person implied. (If you are really lucky some other person in the same spiritual boat as you will intentionally say something hurtful.)

4) At this point stop socializing with other Christians in the church; it will only make your final break more difficult. Get to church late and leave immediately following the service. (When you do socialize, make sure to do it with someone else who is disenfranchised about something going on at church. You will be able to feed off of each other.)

5) Keep an up-to-date record of everything your pastor does wrong. Do not give him any slack.

6) Tell people: "I'm just not being fed."

7) Get hurt/mad/upset with a random member of the church (it can be the pastor) about something small. People will understand why you forsake the Lord & His church if you let them know about how that person looked at you funny during communion. (If it is the pastor, it will be easier to cover up your own spiritual deficiency.)

8) Don't read the Bible very much. (You're actually too spiritual for that anyway.) Instead, read some book by a guy who doesn't believe in God, but claims to know all about Him.

9) Don't pray. (Actually, this was more toward the beginning, but in case you did have a dead form of prayer... go ahead and stop that now.)

10) Come to the realization that you cannot really learn anything from Sunday School, the pastor's messages, or any other branch of the local church's ministry. (Remember you are close to self-actualization!)

11) Convince yourself that you do more good by yourself than working with the rest of the body of Christ.

12) Church-hop (you can repeat the above steps at each new church only in a shorter time period.)

13) Make the "discovery" that the church has it all wrong on issues of morality (you may even discover that there is no such thing as morality). The church is just a bunch of old fuddy-duddies; but you know about true Christianity.

14) Realize that you are a Christian, so everything you do is, by definition, Christian activity!

15) Come up with your own "religious issue" that trumps all others and thus makes the faith of all others worthless compared to yours. (Issues like King James Version of the Bible only, no food in the church, no musical instruments, everyone must wear a tie, no one should wear a tie, etc.)

16) Be miserable.

17) Be secure in your practical atheism.

18) Be hostile to all Christians. (Call them hypocrites.)

19) Stay busy, drunk, and/or active so that there is no chance the Holy Spirit will speak to you and draw you back to where you need to be.

20) Work on developing a hard heart.

Congratulations. If you can accomplish the previous 20 steps you will now, if not before, officially make it onto the prayer list of most churches.
(Assuming of course that churches still pray for lost people.)

OH COME ON! Back in my day ...

that, my audience is what i want to say to my generation when i am pelleted by a phrase: "I'M BORED". Bored reminds of a 2x4 it just lays there .. AND ROTS .. that's what it does, it can get eat by termites (who do eat better when listening to rock music). i am 23 (getting old, ugh) and i am dumb founded how some one can set at the edge of everything ever (basically) and say they have NOTHING to do. The Internet is a phenomenal place, you can learn anything from how an eye contact is made, what the stock market is doing, local AND national gas prices, and many many many many many many things .. AND MORE! its an amazing place - there are those *bad* corners and everything is NOT all good BUT good is mostly out there.

its 3 am .. sorry if the writing is horrible.

i leave you with some scripture, to ponder on, the pondering of pondering. some of these you must look in context BUT it is worth the look. (my comments in parentheses)
  • Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
  • Pro 19:15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. (two effects of LAZINESS)
  • Ecc 10:18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through. (if you don't do upkeep - ceiling caves in)
  • Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy (read the 10 fold sin of Judah: versus 47-52 is this what America is coming to?)
  • 1Ti 5:13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

God Bless you, your house & God Bless planet earth (we need it!!)

PS. When growing up we didn't get our first computer that was on the Internet until 8th grade. its a Gateway, we still have it and it still RUNS. we didn't have CD burners, DVD burners, ipods or a laptop, we had a much smaller, slower internet and we still didn't have boredom moments.

BORED? May i suggest a book? ITS THE BIBLE - if you cant quote it all the way though you haven't read it enough!

BORED? May i suggest an activity? ITS PRAYING .. try it.
- 7 days with out prayer = 1 weak
- prayerlessnes IS a sin of omission! (keep that in mind)

CANT THINK OF ANYTHING TO EAT?
- FAST, no not sprinting but make up in your mind that you will skip the meal, and eat the next time or simply not eat until a certain time such as midnight then you will be hungry AND if you done your fasting correct it will bring GOD glory (we, the church exist for that purpose anyway, right?)

"A Pastor With Guts"

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems Prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek your direction and Guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those Who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we Have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the Lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it Welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it Choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it Justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our Children and called it Building self esteem..

We have abused power and called it Politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it Ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it Freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it Enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of Legislators walked out during the prayer in Protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls Responding negatively. The church is now receiving International requests for copies of this prayer From India , Africa and Korea .

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on His radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'and Received a larger response to this program than any Other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep Over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'one nation Under God.'

PASS THIS ON!!

ALTAR CALL!!

this was pointed out Friday night, and brought me back to my youth ("back in my day ..." sort thing) and there is a young man who is always the FIRST to hit the altar. I am happy to see this, my youth group use to do this when i was about 16-18years of age, then some fell away from the awesome wonderfulness of God (why? i cant figure that out). i have some quotes in front of my bible and one of them is:

The Future of the Church is @ the altar

i truly believe that, our youth (and my gen - i'm still young!) need to know that the altar isn't just for sin or the sinner BUT for the saints (actually mostly for the saints). A thought came to me some time back and that was in the old testament (I'm sure this is right) if you wanted to be forgiven of a specific type of sin you had to lead your lamb, chicken or etc through town and EVERY one else knew the law and so when you trek through town heading for the temple they seen it. Today's time we think that if you go to the altar is for trouble or for seeking forgiveness - my friend its most certainly not. That place is the place of dedication and sacrifice - not just for the repenting of sin. healing, infilling of the holy ghost, dedication and renewals to God have happened there.

if you want to be in the future of the church you certainly can NOT do it with out an altar in your life - daily!

johnny James in-site:
two things to get through anything
1. prayer
2. preaching.

When we get comfortable we turn from something God holds dearly unto something such as puke or bile being spewed out of his mouth. God has NO respect for those riding the fence - living for God one day and the world the next. you can not serve two Gods and its either Jesus or World. Choose you this day whom you may serve.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

(read the entire chapter, its quite good)

Watch your words; they become actions
Watch your actions; they become habits
Watch your habits; they become character
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny

The Ant & The Contact Lens

Brenda was a young woman who was invited to go rock climbing. Although she was scared to death, she went with her group to a tremendous granite cliff. In spite of her fear, she put on the gear, took a hold on the rope, and started up the face of that rock.

Well, she got to a ledge where she could take a breather. As she was hanging on there, the safety rope snapped against Brenda's eye and knocked out her contact lens. Well, here she is on a rock ledge, with hundreds of feet below her and hundreds of feet above her. Of course, she looked and looked and looked, hoping it had landed on the ledge, but it just wasn't there. Here she was, far from home, her sight now blurry. She was desperate and began to get upset, so she prayed to the Lord to help her to find it.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but there was no contact lens to be found. She sat down, despondent, with the rest of the party, waiting for the rest of them to make it up the face of the cliff. She looked out across the range after range of mountains, thinking of that Bible verse that says, "The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth." She thought, Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me."

Finally, they walked down the trail to the bottom. At the bottom there was a new part of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted, "Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?"

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it?

An ant was moving slowly across the face of the rock, carrying it.

Brenda told me that her father is a cartoonist. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a picture of an ant lugging that contact lens with the words, "Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You."

I think it would probably do some of us good to occasionally say, "God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will."

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

(Phil 4:13)

Elisabeth Elliot published The story above in her 1995 book, "Keep A Quiet Heart" (Servant Publications, Ann Arbor Michigan). She says the story is a first-person account given to her from Brenda Foltz of Princeton, Minnesota.

Last Sunday of Sept ..

greetings,

Tonights service was great & i felt an awesome move of God through the service. Keri Jobe's "revelation song" really moved the congregation and God worked throught it.

i really enjoyed the service. Tonights message was on ... "its time to make a change" (mrk 1:14-41). The men had to move out of the ordinary life to Follow Christ. Are you tired of following ordinary and step in to your extra-ordinary with Jesus? He wants followers who are dedicated!
  • Prayer
  • Fasting
  • Bible Reading
  • Witnessing!!
REVIVAL IS COMMING .. was the thought i had about a month ago here is what i have figured out with people in revival
  1. Those comming to God for the first time
  2. Those backslid comming back
  3. Those LEADING it and prepared their selves to service before the *rain cloud* broke through
as for me and myself i dont know if i could forgive myself for not being #3. its time that we all get our lil ducks in a row, line everything up and purge your house, life, self, mind, soul, spirit, thoughts, posessions and get ready for whats comming.

ARE YOU READY?

til next time,
-Bill

may have a tooth pulled .. plz pray or me!!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Prayer request and learning to be specific.

i had a tooth filled early august after a couple weeks it became infected. i remember being in the conference and taking my 2ND round of antibiotics and praying God to remove the pain. i haven't had any real pain since. over the weekend i had developed a bump on my gum - turned out to be an infection pocket. i will end up getting this tooth pulled BUT i will testify God made the tooth absolutely stopped hurting. the science behind this says the nerves around the tooth got immune to the infection and stopped hurting which maybe correct.

next time i pray for a healing/battle/trial/etc i will try to be as specific as possible BUT always ask for ALL to be done in HIS will, not ours.

so pray for this ordeal in the coming week or two - for the tooth savvy its tooth #31 on the dental chart.

a biblical example even GOD uses!

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

read that then think up on the prophets and especially the first part of the bible (that would be Genesis chapter 1).

it works .. bible shows so.

this is a short message BUT i think a rather powerful one.

poverty - vs - prosperity

a profound statement was made when i was at the conference in Huntington last month. we say to Africa
We pray for you in your poverty and they say no we pray for you in your prosperity

we prosper in material but we are in poverty in the spiritual matters, in africa it seems the direct opposite. when you stick your TV, computer, Internet, YouTube, car, materials in front of bible, prayer, fasting OR God in general THEN you have truly put an idol in your life and in your spiritual journey.

TRY THIS! unplug your TV for a full week, totally block it out and refuse to watch it for a week. one straight and solid week (seven whole days *GASP*). see how your walk with God is at the end versus the begging of the week. i am not ANTI-TV but i do feel it hinders a way too many "christians" in their walk with God.

God bless you & God bless his little planet full of stupid humans who think they know everything.

Pro 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

today's thoughts

today is 9.11, its also my mother's Bf's Bday (41). in one week i shall be twenty-three. through life we have troubles and trials, but i have realized that man is stupid and its only through God directing our footsteps can we actually achieve the right things in this lil vapor of life we have (75 isnt that big when your looking at infinity plus one). man is as grass and man is as a vapor. we are here today and gone tomorrow, we are puny and even after a few days we are "full of trouble". Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Alpha-Omega, Alev-Tav, the great and mighty one is how we received our hope, our salvation and hopefully our ordering steps.

how do you become perfect? walk in the spirit, the flesh is incapable of such thing but we are encouraged to be perfect.
How do you - walk by the spirit? Pray, Fast & read your bible. The bible is the sword. Prayer & Fasting is the way to remove unbelief and a way to subdue the flesh.

last thought: if - i may decrease, so he may increase

if me = 0% and he = 100% then he will call the shots, the flesh's desires will be ignored and God will GREATLY bless he that can do that (to those who have and can do that pray deeply for me!)

Thanks for reading,
WWC.

Building a Bridge for your enemy to cross over.

this is a quick thought @ 1:30 am in the morning, should be developed sometime. When you are saved you have the blood covering your sin, blotting it out, even more you are shielded by God (job 1:10). if we are walking by the spirit i believe we will walk perfect and uprightly. when we sin we break God's hedge and purpose, we head back in to our babylon, in to our egypt. we build Satan/ devil a bridge to get to where we are. why? for some fun? Sin will only last for a season - salvation lasts for ever.

do you want satan partying in your promise land?

no?

purge your promise land and put him back where he belongs - burn that bridge and purge your sin!

Thanks,
Billy

the Rocket effect away from SIN // Sin -vs- Flesh

on planet earth, we have gravity that keeps up on the ground. try to jump, you will come back down. to get away from your sin you have to fire up your rockets and fly away from your sin. the hardest part of take off is at the very beginning and then it gets easier then finally you hit where you are completely separate form your sin. take off, ozone, space is it in the natural realm.

for you breaking addictions, habits and urges just remember keep keeping on. i believe that its through the spirit, not the flesh, that we truly win vistory over the sins of the flesh ( Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like) is to walk in the spirit. the spirit and the flesh war against each other and the flesh is full of corruption. in the flesh dwell no good thing, and its not within man (his flesh) to order his own foot steps. in short PEOPLE ARE STUPID, its only through God - you can acheive true perfection and thats putting away sins of the flesh.

Have addiction?
bad habits?
Walk in the spirit!

Power of a Testimony!

Trials are testimonies in the making!
if no one says that or repeats that, i still believe it and its true!

our service last night was prophesied that God would really move. the prophesy was there was a black man preaching and the service was just an awesome one! We had a black minister and the service was indeed awesome! God is so awesomely great!!
  • A boy, about 11, received the holy ghost (w/ evidence speaking in tongues!).

its not easy being on the Potter's Wheel

I wanted to post this song its a awesome whorship song when you just need to life god up this is a great one. it is sung by Darlene Zschech.

"The Potters Hand"

Beautiful Lord

Wonderful Saviour
I know for sureAll of my days are

Held in your hand

Crafted into your perfect plan

You gently called me

Into your presence

Guiding me byYour Holy Spirit

Teach me dear Lord

To live all of my life

Through your eyes

I'm captured by

Your Holy calling

Set me apart

I know you're drawing

Me to Yourself

Lead me Lord

I pray

Take me, Mould me

Use me, fill me

I give my life to the Potter's hand

Call me. guide meLead me,

walk beside me

I give my life to the Potter's hand

i listened to this because i was going through my notes that i take when peopel preach and a boy my age titled his message

"Its not easy being in the potters hand"

he preached this in like 2004 i think but his text is jeremiah 18:1-6. i started thinking about that message and got that song. that is my cry unto god i wanna be formed by your hands!!

Jeremiah 18:1-6
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

"potters" is found in: isa 64:8, Je 18:2, Rom 9:21, Rev 2:27

"clay" : "man, as in the hands of god". isa 29:16, 45:9, 64:8, Jer 18:6, Rom 9:21.

----

Isa 45:9 " Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?"

---
Isa 64:8
But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Deny Self, Take Cross, Follow Christ

previous writting: October, 6 2008.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Deny self,
Take cross,
Follow Christ.
this is what kept coming to me last night, i read that and it hit me.
  • we are to deny our self.
  • we are to take the cross.
  • we are to follow Christ.
this scripture hit me. when i read it i kept saying it over and over in my mind trying to fully grasp the message there. when Jesus says this it is right after peter told Jesus that he would not go to Jerusalem and suffer many things. He told peter (and rest of the apostles) to deny himself, take up cross and follow Christ.
.
wow what something sticks out to you. here it is in context:
.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. 28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

When God Chauffeurs ... (part one)

Part 1, there will be more in depths coming from this!
i would like to share this..

Exo 23:27-33
(27) I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.(28) And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.(29) I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.(30) By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.(31) And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.(32) Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.(33) They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee. (end of chapter)

i was watching a message and his text was 27-28. i read this and got an awesome excitement knowing that God never intended the Israelites to fight. he can use the smallest (hornets) and use it to drive away your biggest adversary. When David stood in front of goliath (very much might of been 10+ feet tall) he used a stone to bring him down and God knew exactly where it should hit.

The reason i added the rest of the scripture (27-end of chapter) is simply because when reading it i get a sense of what it is like to step in to your calling, your purpose, your destiny, your future. its true he will send hornets before you OR he may simply use fear to run the enemy away. the the great revelation is hidden when God simply tells them that he wont do it in one day or one hour, he will do it when they are big enough to take it and make use of it. as a young man in Christ i often ponder about why i am here, my purpose and MY destiny. Exo 23 truly shows me that as long as i grow in him, as long as i trust in him i will truly be able to grow and possess my full promise in Jesus Christ little by little!!

until next time,

URGENT Special Prayer Request! Timothy "Timo" Simoneaux

Missionary Kid, only thirteen - has Spinal Meningitis
Trials are only Testimony's in the making

he is currently (7/30 9:30 EST) @ the hospital in a induced coma on a respirator, they are waiting for the fluid to stabilize.

his aunt is updating of how he is doing when she can: http://www.tsmithconroe.blogspot.com/ (music @ the bottom is set to auto turn on)

Timo's MK Life : http://timosmklife.blogspot.com/

i leave you with his last post (posted july 20th), a prayer from him to help the children in Africa ..

Lord,

Hear my prayer today for the 93,745,000 children in southern
Africa. I may be young but if you will place your anointing on me I will do my best to reach and influence as many children as I can. But oh Lord 93,745,000 is way more than I can reach alone. Please place a burden on someone's heart for the children of southern Africa.

I know You desire to give them a future and a hope. You Word does not lie and it says that the promise of the Holy Ghost is for the children as well. Forgive me for the times that I have missed opportunities. I dedicate myself to this mission.

I would love to impact this world and with your help and forgiveness, I will start trying to impact my world by reaching one child at time.

Lord, today I ask that You will protect the hurting children of Africa. Let somebody help them to understand that You love them.

Thank You for giving me this chance to be a part of Your church and thank You for my parents that have passed on to me their strong burden
for the children of Africa.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

The Lord's Prayer ...

found this on the internet, wanted to share:
“Our Father which are in Heaven…”
Yes?
Don’t interrupt me—I’m praying.
But you called me.
Called you? I didn’t call you! I’m praying, “Our Father which art in Heaven…”
There, you did it again.
Did What?
Called me. You said, “Our Father which art in Heaven.” Here I am. What’s on your mind?
But I didn’t mean it. I was, you know, just saying my prayers for the day. I always say the Lord’s Prayer, It makes me feel good. Like getting a duty done.
All right. Go on.
“Hallowed be Thy Name…”
Hold it. What do you mean by that?
By what?
By, “Hallowed be Thy Name.”
It means…it means…I don’t know what it means! How should I know? It’s just part of the prayer. By the way, what does it mean?
It means honored, holy, wonderful…
Hey, that makes sense. I never thought what “hallowed” meant before. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven…”
Do you really mean that?
Sure, why not?
What are you doing about it?
Doing? Nothing, I guess. I just think it would be kind of neat if you got control of everything down here like you have up there.
Have I got control of YOU?
Well, I go to church.
That isn’t what I asked you. What about the habit of lust you have? And your bad temper? You really have a problem there, you know. And then there’s the way you spend your money…all on yourself. And what about the kind of books you read?
Stop picking on me! I’m just as good as some of the rest of those phonies at church!
Excuse me. I thought you were praying for My will to be done. If that is so, to happen it will have to start with the ones who are praying for it. Like you, for example.
Oh, all right. I do have some hang-ups. Now that you mention it, I could probably name some others.
So could I.
I haven’t thought about it much until now, but I really would like to cut some of those things. I would like to, you know, really be free.
Good, now we’re getting somewhere. We’ll work together, you and I. Some victories can be won. I’m proud of you.
Look, Lord, I need to finish up here. This is taking a lot longer than it usually does. “Give us this day our daily bread…”
You need to cut the bread. You’re overweight as it is.
Hey, wait a minute! What is this? “Criticize Me Day”? Here I was, doing my religious duty, and all of a sudden you break in and remind me of all my hang-ups!
Praying is a dangerous thing. You could wind up changed, you know. That’s what I’m trying to get across to you. You called me and here I am. It’s too late to stop now. Keep on praying. I’m interested in the next part of your prayer…………..Well, go on.
I’m scared to.
Scared? Of what?
I know what you’ll say.
Try me and see.
“Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors…”
What about Bill?
See? I knew it! I knew you would bring it up! Why, Lord, he’s told lies about me. Cheated me out of some money. He never paid back that debt he owed me. I’ve sworn to get even with him!
But your prayer? What about your prayer?
I didn’t mean it.
Well, at least you’re honest. But it’s not much fun carrying that load of bitterness around inside, is it?
No, but I’ll feel better as soon as I get even. Boy, have I got some plans for Bill! He’ll wish he never did me any harm.
You won’t feel better. You’ll feel worse. Revenge isn’t sweet. Think of how unhappy you are now. But I can change all that.
You can? How?
Forgive Bill. Then I’ll forgive you. Then the hate and sin will be Bill’s problem, not yours. You may lose the money, but you will have settled your heart.
But Lord, I can’t forgive Bill.
Then I can’t forgive you
Oh, you’re right. You always are. And more than I want revenge on Bill, I want to be right with you………Alright, alright. I forgive him. Help him find the right road in life, Lord. He’s bound to be miserable, now that I think about it. Anybody who goes around doing the things he does to others has to be out of it. Somehow, some way, show him the right way.
There now! Wonderful! How do you feel?
Hmmm. Well, not bad. Not bad at all. In fact, I feel pretty great! You know, I don’t think I’ll have to go to bed uptight tonight for the first time since I can remember. Maybe I won’t be so tired from now on because I’m not getting enough rest.
You’re not through with your prayer. Go on.
Oh, all right. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Good! Good! I’ll do that. Just please don’t put yourself in a place where you can be tempted.
What do you mean by that?
Quit hanging around the magazine stand, video and music stores where unwholesome material is sold. Change some of your friendships. Some of your so-called friends are beginning to get to you. They’ll have you completely involved in wrong things before long. Don’t be fooled. They advertise they’re having fun, but for you it would be ruin. Don’t use ME for an escape hatch.
I don’t understand.
Sure you do. You’ve done it a lot of times. You get caught in a bad situation. You get in trouble and then you come running to me. “Lord, help me out of this mess, and I’ll never do it again.” You remember some of those bargains you tried to make with me?
Yes. And I’m ashamed, Lord, I really am.
Which bargain are you remembering?
Well, when the woman next door saw me coming out of the “adult” bookstore. I’d told my mother I was going to a store. I remember telling you, “Oh, God, Don’t let her tell Mom where I’ve been. I promise I’ll be in church every Sunday.”
She didn’t tell your mother, but you didn’t keep your promise, did you?
I’m sorry, Lord, I really am. Up until now, I thought that if I prayed the Lord’s Prayer every day, then I could do what I like. I didn’t expect anything to happen like it did.
Okay. Go ahead and finish your prayer.
“For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
Do you know what would bring me glory? What would really make me happy?
No. But I’d like to know. I want now to please you. I can see what a mess I’ve made of my life. And I can see how neat it would be to really be one of your followers.
You just answered the question.
I did?
Yes. The thing that would bring me glory is to have people like you truly love. And I see that happening between us. Now that some of those sins are exposed and out of the way, well, there’s no telling what we can do together.
Lord, let’s see what we can make of me, okay?
Yes, let’s see!

Authority

sorry for the month off , just haven't been chugging along like usual so if your a loyal reader .. sorry!! (if you are comment more!).

something has stood out to me & it has been the topic lately so i figured this could be use to you.

JESUS - has all authority in Heaven & in earth

the centurion came to Jesus saying this ..

Mat 8:5-13
(5) And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
(6) And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
(7) And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
(8) The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
(9) For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
(10) When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
(11) And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
(12) But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
(13) And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

YOU (and myself) ALL need an Authority which is a pastor to answer to. if we have no authority in our life we loose direction. as a human being we need direction and some one to give us direction - Jesus Christ & his under shepherd (pastor) is the ones that we ought to go to.

i leave you with this:

1Co 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Heb 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

God Bless!

Fasting...

i was going to post on the "I AM" but i just felt like posting this. its a short short study on fasting. the "I AM" is comming soon!

fast 2
To abstain from food.
To eat very little or abstain from certain foods, especially as a religious discipline. n.
The act or practice of abstaining from or eating very little food.
A period of such abstention or self-denial.

Fasting is to abstain from something, primarily food.

the question arises ..

Q:WHY FAST?
A: ISA 58:6 -12

Isa 58:6-12 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (7) Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? (8) Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. (9) Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; (10) And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: (11) And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. (12) And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

this is a very shot insight in to fasting, when i get in to it i will get in to it!.

I AM : "for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins" (remember HE is in italics!)

Just Follow . you will get your key!

A couple years ago I left from a church w/ my friend and was following his dad, I was supposing his dad was going some whereas else completely leaving me & him to figure out getting back to his house just us. we was following him the entire way there (about a 20-30 min drive) and when we are almost halfway my friend calls out something startling "I don't have a key to the house", that sets us in to panic mode .. It’s too hot out here for me to wait for his dad to get back! I honk and flash my lights and do everything short of ramming the back bumper for attention but he ignores me, I was like how can he do that & why would it seem like I am being completely ignored since having a key and all is extremely important. We follow his father through all kind of back roads to get to the wilderness country where they live. We get on their road and I finally figure it out... he pulls over and we get out going up to his vehicle... And he hands us the key we just spent the entire trip trying to figure out what we could do with out it.

the spiritual significance of this is simply when your following behind and your not sure where your going and your not sure where your key is, follow HIM & he will lead thee and guide thee, HE will open doors for you.

I am a horrible write, I guess an ok speaker BUT this simple message came to me a couple days later after this event, how we can see awesome messages of God in the simplistic events of life.

Have a good day!

insights on Former & Latter Rain

Rainfall happens in two grea cycles per year .. the spring rain & the autum rain. the interesting insight of the rain that alot of people dont take in to account is the spring rain (former rain) is a blanket rain, it covers the entire area and can rain three days straight. the Autumn rain (latter rain) is more of a selective rain but over all is more powerful. i started concentrating on this when i asked myself this roughly ' how can there be a great out pouring yet at the same time a great back sliding?' - that is through the selective rain. right now in aftrica there is a tremendous revival and its comming to America not and what a revival it will be! but the backsliding can happen while the church is getting revived through selective rain.

No real scripture today but look up the topic its a really good one!

Can you Buy the ability to give the Holy Ghost?

Wednesday's posts are usually small .. here is an awesome post.

Act 8:9-24
(9) But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
(10) To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
(11) And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
(12) But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
(13) Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
(14) Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
(15) Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
(16) (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
(17) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
(18) And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

(19) Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
(20) But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
(21) Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
(22) Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
(23) For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
(24) Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

this shows requirement of an outward sign to know you received the Holy Ghost. simple message . powerful yet simple.

parables & you ....

hope you enjoy this ...

"him who hath an ear let him hear..." Jesus simply spoke in parables for the fact that if you want to ignore him you can. there are many understandings that take the spiritual revelation and to have an open spiritual understanding of things. This is why prayer and seeking God is so important. Prayer and fasting is a must for that christian that wants to really be a changing force.

here is a fundamental scripture its the LAST thing Christ said before the ascension (so it must be pretty important IMO):

Act 1:7-9 (red = Christ's words)
(7) And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
(8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
(9) And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

verse 8 is my focus : "ye shall recieve power" then .. "ye shall be witnesses unto me both in jerusalem ... and to th uttermost parts of the earth"
two phrases by STRONGS ..

"ye shall receive" - G2983 // λαμβάνω // lambanō // lam-ban'-o
A prolonged form of a primary verb, which is used only as an alternate in certain tenses; to take (in very many applications, literally and figuratively [probably objective or active, to get hold of; whereas G1209 is rather subjective or passive, to have offered to one; while G138 is more violent, to seize or remove]): - accept, + be amazed, assay, attain, bring, X when I call, catch, come on (X unto), + forget, have, hold, obtain, receive (X after), take (away, up).

"ye shall be" - G2071 //ἔσομαι // esomai // es'-om-ahee
Future tense of G1510; will be: - shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn.

"witnesses" - G3144 //μάρτυς //martus // mar'-toos
Of uncertain affinity; a witness (literally [judicially] or figuratively [generally]); by analogy a "martyr": - martyr, record, witness.

we try to be witnesses unto "the utter most part of the earth", we should aim to save OUR Jerusalem. we are proposed by CHRIST to be a witness, how many times after you received your power (Holy Ghost) have you NOT been a witness?

just wondering!

Cant be forgiven? Really? REALLY?

i read this a long time ago and had to post it on here. i work hard to show you, the readers, what i think God revealing to me as well as core structures in the bible.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

"HAVE SINNED" = G264 // ἁμαρτάνω // hamartanō // ham-ar-tan'-o // Perhaps from G1 (as a negative particle) and the base of G3313; properly to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), that is, (figuratively) to err, especially (morally) to sin: - for your faults, offend, sin, trespass.

to me sin is a transgression against God .. its an act that must be accounted for and dealt with eventually.

I normally think at times God cannot forgive me so the so many silly things I do, but i read this and now I know for sure. he still loves me and has a chance for me to exploit.. I am His messenger ...

Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
John the Baptist ate bugs

The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
Mary Magdalene was......, well you know
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small

...no more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential.Besides you
aren't the message, you are just the messenger.Share this with a friend or

Human Race: stupid stupid stupid

The human race in its entirety is pretty stupid. I do not need scripture for that, just set and think about it.

Ecc 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

when i was younger i was in a bible study and this scripture was partially qouted as : "that the race is not to the swift"and for some reason in my mind it registered as "the race isnt too swift". i chuckled, not to mention everyone looked at me weird and just went on.

i am not going to present anymore scripture. i feel looking at the human past we can say we are in the condition we are in is because of the condition of the human psyche.

Thanks!

The Sin of Prayerlessness By Reverend Raymond A. Beesley

This is one of my ALL time favorite messages!

"Then these man assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God" (Daniel 6:11).

"Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the
Lord in ceasing to pray for you" (1 Samuel 12:23).

One of the darkest, bleakest transgressions that can be
committed by a child of God is the sin of prayerlessness. This sin is the worst
of sins because it leads us to all other transgressions and sins

When we pray, we come from darkness to light. We come from
bleakness to hope. We come from despair to peace. We come from sin to
righteousness. We come from transgression to holiness.

Daniel's Commitment to Prayer

The Bible declares that Daniel, a Jewish exile, became the chief
president in the Medo-Persian Empire, the first among the three presidents who
were over the one hundred and twenty princes in the empire.

Daniel was a man who served King Darius well, and the king loved
him. But envy and jealousy and strife rose up among the presidents and princes
and they set out to destroy Daniel. In their investigation of his life, they
could find no fault with him except in the way he worshiped God. He did not
observe the pagan gods, but he devoutly served the one true God of his fathers.

It is a beautiful testimony when those with whom we work and
live can find nothing against us except the way we worship and serve God.
Certainly, being a Christian is more than just going to church and joining in
the worship. It involves a seven-days-a-week commitment to Jesus Christ-at work
and at home. The Bible tells us that we are to have a good report of those
outside the church.

Under a false pretense, the envious presidents and princes got
the king to sign a decree that made it unlawful for Daniel to pray to his God
for thirty days. Daniel knew that the law had been signed, but he also knew what
it was to pray. He did not pray because of the emergency. He did not pray
because there was sickness in his house. He did not pray because he was in some
kind of trouble. He did not pray because he wanted some success in his ministry.
He prayed because he believed in prayer. He prayed because he knew that to know
the one true God he must of necessity pray to God.

When he learned of the new law, Daniel did what he always did.
Three times, each day he opened his window and prayed toward Jerusalem. He
believed that the God of Israel, the Lord of Jerusalem, would someday bring the
people of God back to the city of Jerusalem. Therefore, kneeling beside the
window, he stretched his hands toward God and Jerusalem and prayed everyday. He
knew trouble would come, but he also knew that nothing should interfere with his
commitment to prayer - a commitment that is an example for us to follow.

The People Ask Samuel To Pray

The words in 1Samuel 12:23 came after the prophet Samuel felt
rejected by the people of Israel. The people to whom he had ministered and to
whom he had given leadership and godly council demanded that they have a king to
reign over them. Samuel would no longer be the civil judge, although he would
remain a spiritual leader - a priest and a prophet.

After Samuel anointed Saul to be king over Israel, the old
gray-headed prophet pointed out to the Israelites their sin in wanting a king
other than Jehovah; nevertheless, he admonished them to follow the Lord, to fear
and obey His voice, and told them that God would still bless the nation under a
monarchy. On the other hand, he warned them that if they continually rebelled
against God, then the judgement of God would be upon them.

When the people realized their sin of asking for a king, they
said to Samuel, "Pray for thy servants unto the Lord thy God, that we die
not"
(1 Samuel 12:19). In his answer, Samuel said, "As for me, God forbid
that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you."

Prayerlessness Is A Sin

We need to realize as did Samuel, that prayerlessness is a sin.
We often say that it is unfortunate that we do not pray more. We often say,
"Well, I guess our lack of prayer is the reason we are weak or that we are
ineffective." I have yet to hear somebody say, "I have sinned against God this
day because I have not prayed this day unto my God."

Why is it a sin not to pray? First of all, the Bible expressly
calls it a sin. And if the Bible calls it a sin, it is a sin. Sometimes people,
call things sin when they have no Bible, but the Bible clearly tells us that
prayerlessness is sin.

Samuel said, "God forbid that I should sin." Sin is always
wrapped around "I". If Samuel felt it was a sin not to pray, can we believe that
we can get by without feeling that it is a sin?

It is a sin not to pray because it is right to pray. Jesus said
that men ought always to pray (Luke 18:1). In Thessalonians 5:17, we are told to
"pray without ceasing." Ephesians 6:18 reads "Praying always, with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints."

The disciples came to Jesus with a request: "Lord, teach as to
pray, as John also taught his disciples " (Luke 11:1). Something so moved those
disciples as they watched the ministry of the Lord Jesus that they came to Him
with the request. "Lord, teach us to pray." Will we be moved to prayer by the
teaching and example of our Lord?

The Bible also gives us an astonishing principle in James 4:17
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is a
sin." In other words, if we know something is right to do and we do not do it,
then our failure is a sin. If there is anything that is right in the Bible,
prayer is right.

There are sins of commission and sins of omission. We are
experts on the sins of commission. We rightfully and readily rejoice when the
preacher expounds against trashy television programs, rock and roll music, drugs
and alcohol, and immorality. But when he turns to the sins of omission, we often
freeze - perhaps because we may be guilty. If we know to witness to our
neighbors and we don't witness, we sin. If we know to read the Scriptures and we
don't, we sin. If we know that we are to pray, and we don't pray, the omission
is a sin.

The Need To Pray

Not only does the Bible teach us that prayerlessness is a sin,
but the Bible urges, encourages, and even begs us to give ourselves to prayer:
"Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17);" Men ought always to pray, and
not to faint" (Luke 18:1); "Pray ye, therefore the Lord of the harvest "
(Matthew 9:38). There are great promises associated with prayer: "That if two of
you shall agree on earth as touching anything they shall ask, it shall be done
for them" (Matthew 18:19); "The prayer of faith shall save the sick .. the
effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much " (James 5:15-16);
"Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be
opened unto you" (Luke 11:9).

New methods, new ways, and new programs, as helpful as they are
to the mission of the church, are not the answers to the heartbeat of God or to
the spiritual needs of the church. From where do we receive our direction to
work in the harvest field? Some of our youth do not know what is meant when we
ask, "Have you prayed through about the matter? or "Have you ever had a burden
of prayer?"

But no person will go far with God until he gets some Bethel
experiences established in his life. Some place between here and glory all of us
are going to be buffeted by the wicked one, by the world and by the cares of
life. Every Christian needs an anchor - some place that he can go back to, some
place where he met God in prayer. The way we worship in church cannot be a
substitute for heart-searching Spirit-inspired, fervent prayer.

Spiritual Prayer

The preacher had preached; the convicting power of God moved
upon a man who made his way to the altar of prayer. The members gathered around
him in prayer. For a few minutes, earnest prayer filled the building. But then
the music became loud and fast - and for the next hour the organ, the drums and
a bass guitar ruled supreme. For all practical purposes, the praying ceased when
the playing began. Would it not have been better for everyone to have stayed
before God in prayer - at least until the man at the altar had time to repent
and find God?

When a person receives the gift of the Holy Ghost with the
evidence of speaking in tongues, he receives more than what a rhythm and a beat
can give him. The Spirit of God takes control of his tongue and expresses
Himself through him in a language that the receiver has not learned. But in some
cases in some churches, the seeker is pushed through to a pseudo - Pentecostal
experience.

Let us face it; the false and fake of spiritual experiences are
promoted in some religious circles. They attempt to teach people how to speak
with tongues, how to dance in the Spirit, and how to shout. But no one need to
"learn" how to do these; when the Holy Ghost comes on the inside of a person,
the expressions of the Spirit will come. We do not need the false or the fake
when we can have the genuine. We must not replace the real manifestations of the
Holy Ghost with clatter, clamor, and confusion.

The Bible tells us that we have a Partner in prayer: "Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings
that cannot be uttered" (Romans 8:26). The Holy Ghost is our prayer - partner!
Oh to live close enough to God that we can hear our Partner speak to us: "Son,
we ought to pray together!".

Our Heritage Of Prayer

The Bible gives many examples of men and women who prayed and
received answers to prayer. Elijah prayed and fire fell on the sacrifice. Moses
prayed and the people of Israel were spared. Paul and Silas prayed and angels
came down to deliver them from jail. The Early Church prayed, and Peter walked
out of prison.

The Upper Room became a place of prayer and praise until the Day
of Pentecost. The roots of the church go back to this Upper Room prayer meeting,
and we need to retain both the practice of prayer and experience of the Holy
Ghost.

Prayerlessness Leaves the Door Open for Other Sins

Prayerlessness is a sin because not to pray leaves the door open
for all other sins. Because of this, it is the most serious of transgressions.

The disciples said to Jesus, "Teach us to pray." He told them in
the model prayer to pray. "Lead us not into temptation but deliver from evil "
(Luke 11:4). Everyday we need to pray that God would not put temptation in our
way, but that He would deliver us from evil. Since we are still in this flesh
and therefore still subject to temptations, we ought to pray daily that God
would set Himself as a watch on our lips that we would not sin with our words,
that He would lead our feet away from slippery places, and that He would guard
our hearts from evil thoughts.

In Gethsemane, Jesus said to His disciples, "Watch and pray,
that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh
is weak " (Matthew 26:41); and "Pray that ye enter not into temptation" (Luke
22:40). John Bunyan, the writer of Pilgrim's Progress, put it this way: "Prayer
will make a man cease from sin and sin will make a man cease from prayer."

A person will never stumble as long as he is on his knees. If
there are things overcoming a Christian, it is because of his lack of prayer.
His trouble is not with television. His trouble is not with professional sports.
His trouble is that he is committing the sin of prayerlessness. When a person
prays, these things of the world find their rightful place in his life.

The root cause of any lack in our spirituality comes from the
sin of prayerlessness. Why is the church sometimes powerless when we believe
there is great power for the church? Why does preaching often accomplish so
little? Why do we struggle so hard to win the unsaved and get so little result?
Could it be that we are neglecting our responsibility of prayer?

Prayerlessness - A Sin Against God, Others, and Ourselves

Against whom do we sin when we do not pray? Sin goes into three
brackets: We sin against God; we sin against others; and we sin against
ourselves. To take the name of the Lord God in vain is a sin against God. To
bear false witness is a sin against our neighbor. When a person covets, he sins
against his own spirit. But prayerlessness is a sin against God. It is a sin
against the neighbor, and it is a sin against ourselves.

A Sin Against God

Samuel said, "God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in
ceasing to pray....." Prayerlessness is a sin against God because it hinders His
purpose and prevents Him from accomplishing the things that He wants to do.

Some things can only happen by prayer. When God told Moses

A Sin Against Others

That He would destroy the rebellious Israelites, Moses responded
with prayer for God to spare them. His prayer gave God a reason to change His
mind. The Bible makes this clear: "Therefore he said that he would destroy them,
had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath,
lest he should destroy them" (Psalm 106:23).

The Early Church gave God a reason to send an angel to deliver
Peter out of the jail. When Paul and Silas prayed, God had a reason to deliver
them from prison. Elijah's prayer gave God a reason to stop the rain.

Not to pray is also a sin against others. Samuel put it this
way: "That I should sin ...in ceasing to pray for you." His prayer was for the
people. We live in a world filled with spiritually and morally broken men and
women. When we fall to pray for them, we sin against them. God uses our prayers
to help others.

Then we sin against ourselves: "That I should sin...." Prayer
changes things, but prayer also changes the pray-er. A man that prays will be
changed to be more like the Lord. Blessings will come upon him and to him. God
will become more a reality in his life every day as he prays. Inner strength and
renewed faith come through prayer.

To pray was Samuel's personal decision: "Moreover as for me, God
forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray...." Samuel
determined that he was to pray.

Have you made that same decision?
Are you ready to pray?

If my people, which are called by my name..

... shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 chronicles 7:14)

simply put this is an IF/THEN statement. my experience with programming is that is if the "if" statement is never validated then the "then" statement will be executed.

so i can look at this way (in my programming way)

IF my people, which are called by my name, shall ...
1. humble themselves, and
2. pray, and
3. seek my face, and
4. turn from their wicked ways;

THEN
1. will I hear from heaven, and
2. will forgive their sin, and
3. will heal their land.

(sometimes in this example there is an else if). Below are scriptures from various versions of the bible. i encourage all who study the bible to get in to the Greek or Hebrew and search it out for yourself when you take a translation at the word your believing the translator BUT when you get in to it and learn the Hebrew and Greek then you have more power to understand, and help others understand what scripture really means. here are the strong's numbers included in this particular scripture

Receiving the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues

PT 1 – (1-5) Examples of people speaking in tongues when they
received the Holy Ghost

PT 2 – (6-8) Prophesies Concerning speaking in tongues

PT 3 – Questions about speaking in tongues.

PT 1 – Examples of The Apostles spoke in tongues

The initial filling of the Holy Ghost.

1. Acts2:1-4

(1) And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all
together in one place. (2) And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the
rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
(3) And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and
it sat upon each one of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit,
and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

. . (33) Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received
of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye
now see and hear.

Cornelius spoke in tongues

2. Acts 10:44-48

(44) While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell
on all them that heard the word. (45) And they of the circumcision that believed
were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was
poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. (46) For they heard them speak with
tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, (47) Can any man forbid the
water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as
well as we? (48) And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

* They received the holy ghost “as well as we”

Ephesians spoke in tongues

3. Acts 19:2-6

(1) And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth,
Paul having passed through the upper country came to Ephesus, and found certain
disciples: (2) and he said unto them, Did ye receive the Holy Spirit when ye
believed? And they [said] unto him, Nay, we did not so much as hear whether the
Holy Spirit was [given]. (3) And he said, Into what then were ye baptized? And
they said, Into John`s baptism. (4) And Paul said, John baptized with the
baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him
that should come after him, that is, on Jesus. (5) And when they heard this,
they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. (6) And when Paul had laid
his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues,
and prophesied

Paul Spoke in tongues

4. (I Corinthians 14:18)

18. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

The Samaritans spoke in tongues

5. Acts 8:15-19 (Some of you will think this should have been the second one
but I had to go through all of that to post this one.)

(15) who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that
they might receive the Holy Spirit: (16) for as yet it was fallen upon none of
them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. (17) Then
laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. (18) Now when
Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles` hands the Holy Spirit was
given, he offered them money, (19) saying, Give me also this power, that on
whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. (20) But Peter said
unto him, Thy silver perish with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the
gift of God with money

Now, he wanted the Holy Spirit. Not miracles or anything else. Read the first
14 verses.

If there is not an outward sign of the Holy Ghost then how did Simon know they
received it? If it wasn’t an outward sign then he could forge it. He noticed he
couldn’t forge it so he had to try to get it some how. The Holy Ghost is not for
sale

PT 2 – Prophesies About

6. Isaiah 28:11

For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

Paul quotes this section of scripture in

I Corinthians 14:21-22

(21) In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I
speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the
Lord. (22) Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to
them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not,
but for them which believe.

7. Mark 16:17

(17) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast
out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (18) They shall take up serpents;
and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands
on the sick, and they shall recover. (19) So then after the Lord had spoken unto
them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. (20) And
they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and
confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

8. Speaking in tongues is the initial sign that one has received the holy
ghost

Holy ghost was foretold in john 3:8

(8)The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but
canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is
born of the Spirit.

PT 3 Questions About

Do tongues save?

No, however the relationship between tongues & spirit baptism is similar to
faith and works.

-We are saved by faith, no works, yet works accompanies genuine faith.

-Tongues cannot save us, yet the Holy Ghost produces tongues as the initial
sign.

Question: tongues always accompany the baptism of the spirit?

A: Book of acts indicates this.

A: Baptism with out tongues is unbiblical (EXPECT TONGUES)

Thank you to:

I do want to thank the people who helped me write this.

David K. Bernard’s Book “The New Birth” the material spoke up above is somewhat
in that book.
